Mindsight Shares their Soles in New Charity Drive

August 8, 2017

At several points throughout the year, Mindsight launches a community outreach project to benefit our local area. In the fall, we host the Mindsight hunger games in which we raise awareness and volunteer to address the food insecurity concerns of Chicagoland. In the spring, we have hosted walks and field days to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s childhood cancer research. Now, this summer, we’re launching the Share Your Soles shoe drive in partnership with the Share Your Soles organization.

The Shoe Drive and Volunteering

From July 31st to August 25th, Mindsight is hosting a shoe drive to collect new or gently used shoes to donate to the charity.

After the drive, Mindsight employees will have an opportunity to see how the charity works behind the scenes. On August 26th, the Mindsight team will donate their time volunteering at the Share Your Soles distribution center. During the outing, volunteers will learn more about the organization while touring the facility and will also take part in sorting and processing the shoe donations that were collected.

Who Are Share Your Soles?

Share Your Soles is a non-profit 501c 3 charity organization with a simple goal. They want to provide clean shoes in good repair to those in need around the world. The organization was founded by Mona Purdy in 1999 after a visit to Central America. She was struck by the need for quality shoes in the region and decided to help. Seventeen years later, Share Your Soles has worked with church groups, Scout troops, Civic organizations, and private donors to deliver over two million pairs of shoes to those in need. In that time, the program’s reach has expanded beyond Central America. Share Your Soles delivers shoes to our own domestic Native American Reservations, India, Ecuador, Peru, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Cameroon, Nicaragua, Tanzania, and Ghana.

Join Mindsight in the Effort

We welcome our readers in the greater Chicago area to donate shoes as well. You can bring new or gently used shoes to any of the drop box locations found on the Share Your Soles website. Every pair of shoes makes a difference, and we hope you find an opportunity to help.

If you would prefer to make a monetary donation instead, you may do so through the portal on the Share Your Soles website.

Mindsight Corporate Social Responsibility

At Mindsight, we believe that businesses in a community bear a responsibility to support the community around them, and so we are always looking for a chance to do our part for Chicago. Whether it is a food drive, a shoe drive, or rolling up our sleeves for volunteer work, Mindsight is happy to help. We want to thank Share Your Soles for partnering with us for this drive and for the good work they do around the globe.

Check back after the drive for a follow-up article on the volunteer session.
